A New Library for Plimmerton School

Students and staff at Plimmerton School are eagerly anticipating the completion of their new library, designed by McKenzie Higham Architects, which will be a significant focal point for the school.

Construction is well underway, with the structure in place and the installation of the roof the next significant event. The open-plan flexible use space will be completed by the end of the year.

The new technology-rich library will have a calm relaxing interior and a strong connection to the school’s central courtyard, with generous decking that can be used for play or as a stage for more formal occasions.

Many students at Plimmerton School have a strong connection to the local Hongoeka Marae. The school has worked closely with local Iwi to embody this heritage in the form of a welcoming contemporary Māori design installation at the entrance to the library.
