Congratulations to Elizabeth Cox for winning the BookHub Award for Illustrated Non-Fiction for her book "Mr Ward's Map: Victorian Wellington Street by Street", published by Massey University Press.
McKenzie Higham Architects is proud to have provided sponsorship for this impressive project that traces the surveyor Thomas Ward's detailed map of Wellington created in 1891. We also assisted Elizabeth’s research with drawings of original buildings from our archives.
The author, Elizabeth Cox, is a Wellington historian who specialises in New Zealand social and architectural history. She is a heritage consultant and was a senior historian at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
Elizabeth received the award at the New Zealand Book Awards ceremony, "The Ockhams" on Wednesday 13th May which was held as part of the Auckland Writer's Festival.
