The enabling works for a multi-stage redevelopment of Tauhara College have been recently completed. This included in-ground site-wide infrastructure, a new caretaker’s compound and new astroturf courts (in the school’s colours!). The next step will be the construction of a new two-storey block to house 10 teaching spaces, including 8 specialist science and technology rooms, as well as staff and administration facilities. Construction is due to commence in the next few weeks with an estimated 15-month programme.
The new spaces will provide a sustainable, comfortable, and healthy school environment. The project is targeting a New Zealand Green Building Council Greenstar Design and As Built 5 Star certification. As construction progresses on site, we will be developing designs for future stages.
Our relationship with Tauhara College begun in 2020 when we designed a temporary village to house students as flooding had made the existing buildings uninhabitable. This project illustrates the positive outcomes from this ongoing relationship with an engaged school and community.
