Members of the McKenzie Higham health design team recently attended the New Zealand Health Design Council's bi-annual conference in Wellington. We were delighted to be a sponsor of this important event, which was attended by a wide range of health professionals.
Attendees heard from presenters including the Honourable Matt Doocey - Associate Minister of Health, Health NZ, private health providers in NZ, and architects, engineers and project managers for recent international new-build hospitals. Other topics included Artificial Intelligence, changes in procurement approaches and a humorous take on CAR-T therapy. John MacDonald presented a quick-fire Pecha Kucha talk "In Praise of Existing Buildings", advocating for more re-use and small projects in the Health sector.
The conference finished with the launch of Chris Thom's Health Design in New Zealand, also sponsored by McKenzie Higham. This definitive new book on the history of Health Design in New Zealand was materially assisted by MHA’s Mike Cronin, particularly in relation to our whakapapa from Bulleyment Fortune and predecessors Crichton & McKay, Haughton and Mair, and the Haughton Partnership.
